Cardio-vascular diseases (CVD) are the most common cause of death in industrial countries which appear to become a serious problem in developing countries because of changes in the mortality structure (a diminished share of infectious diseases and traumata). Diagnostic and therapeutic approaches adopted by cardiologists of the developed countries are but of limited usefulness in developing countries; in fact they are not available to the greater part of their population due to conspicuous financial problems. Therefore, it is an ultimate goal of the world commonwealth to accommodate the high-tech means of heart diagnostics and treatment to the financial reality of developing countries so as to make them free-for-all. At the same time, optimization of the cost-benefit balance of current medical procedures should be attained. At July 2005 Georgian Telemedicine Union started telecardiology activity with assistance of MedIT AS. This is the company with a proven International experience in the field of design and development of digital technical solutions for cardiovascular diagnostic and their seamless integration into medical information and telecommunication systems. |
