Telemedicine has mostly been described as the practice of medicine at the distance. Today telemedicine applications have been used in nearly every field of medicine, including radiology, pathology, neurology, psychiatry, dermatology, cardiology, surgery and etc. One aspect of telemedicine that has increasingly become common is teleoncology. GTU starts pilot program teleoncology, which means the delivery of oncology services from the distance to the patients with serious diseases and complex treatment and who permanently need health care. This program can be implemented as through on-line consultations, so via e-mail or web-page technologies. By implementation of teleoncology it will be possible to achieve the following aims:
Implementation of teleoncology pilot program is of great importance for the oncology patients. By this it will be possible to obtain diagnosis and strategy of the further treatment simultaneously and as a result the specific therapy will start earlier and as a consequence will be more effective. On July 3rd 2004, the first oncology consultation via Internet was performed. As a result of this suggestions from foreign specialists were obtained. |
